1. Core Commitment: Zero-Permission Design
Upulse's architecture follows the "principle of least privilege." As a browser extension, our core operating logic is to simulate user behavior in your local browser, not to proxy your account in the cloud.
- No Password Storage: We will never ask for, collect, or store your passwords for any social platform (such as Instagram, X, Xiaohongshu, etc.).
- No Cookie Access: We do not need to access your session cookies to maintain login status, because the extension runs directly in the browser context where you are already logged in.
- Local Execution: All interaction operations (likes, follows, etc.) are initiated by the extension in your local browser, just as if you clicked them yourself.
2. Information We Collect
To maintain the normal operation of the mutual-aid network (i.e., to confirm that you have completed tasks and award you rewards), we need to collect a minimal amount of data:
2.1 Account Identifiers
When you log in to a social platform, the extension reads your public user ID (UID) or username. This is to link your Upulse account with your social platform identity to record your credits (Beats).
2.2 Task Execution Status
When you perform mutual-aid tasks, the extension sends a task completion confirmation signal to our server (e.g., "User A just followed User B"). This is used to verify task results and settle rewards.
2.3 Device and Network Information
To prevent cheating and abuse (such as bot farms), we may collect hashed IP addresses or browser fingerprints. This data is used solely for security and fraud prevention, not to track your personal identity.
3. Extension Permissions Explained
Our extension requests the following permissions, each for a specific purpose:
- storage: Save your login credentials and session data locally, so you don't need to log in repeatedly.
- activeTab & tabs: Detect which supported platform (X, Xiaohongshu, etc.) you're visiting to provide relevant features.
- cookies: Access platform authentication cookies to verify your login status and task completion.
- webRequest & webNavigation: Monitor network requests to track task completion status and ensure accurate reward settlement.
- sidePanel: Display the extension interface in Chrome's side panel for easy task viewing and account management.
4. How We Use Your Data
The information we collect is used only for the following purposes:
- Maintaining your Upulse account balance and transaction records.
- Verifying the authenticity of mutual-aid tasks (anti-fraud).
- Analyzing system performance and improving user experience.
We will never sell your data to third-party advertisers or data brokers.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data in the following cases:
- Our Backend Server: Data is sent to our API server (app.upulse.app) for authentication and task verification.
- Service Providers: Trusted third parties that help us operate our service (e.g., cloud hosting).
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

We employ industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encrypted transmission and server-side access controls. While no system is absolutely secure, we will do our best to protect your information.
